Our dynamic group includes Michelin Star locations Sushi Noz and Noz 17 & Noz Market Omakase restaurants and Chez Fifi, a French bistro with Basque influence on the Upper East Side of NYC. Our Miami restaurants include Eleventh Street Pizza locations and Fooq’s Little River.

About the Role:

As a Floor Sommelier, you will serve as an ambassador for our wine program. You will be responsible for helping to maintain the integrity of the wine program while facilitating proper wine service in our dining room. You will also be responsible for not only thoughtful, attentive wine service, but have excellent knowledge of our menu, discuss food & wine pairings with the team and guests, and engage in all elements of service in the restaurant. 

Responsibilities:

• Provide friendly, courteous and efficient service to all guests with making eye contact, smiling and maintaining proper posture.
• Being knowledgeable about different types and regions of wines from all over the world.
• Helping customers choose the correct wine for a meal and/or budget for either a la carte of tasting menus.
• Getting glassware as needed for wine service, including wine pairings.
• Notifies Beverage Director & Head Sommelier of any beverages that are 86ed or low.
• Assisting Beverage Director & Head Sommelier with recommendations for ordering wines that best fit the menu and patrons.
• Works as a member of the beverage team. Interacts with the service team in a positive manner. Assists others whenever needed.
• Interacts with people beyond giving and receiving instructions, particularly in resolving Guest complaints.
• Supports Beverage Director & Head Sommelier in preparing wine orders on a daily/weekly basis.
• Ensure inventory is taken on the correct inventory reporting dates.
• Set up and break down every day before and after service.
• Anticipate and service the guest’s needs before requests are made.
• Follow proper time and attendance and uniform procedures
• Be ready to provide education throughout wine tastings, by the glass and pairing descriptions and assist with new team members.
• Maintains all service tools including decanters, wine keys, and more.

Qualifications:

• Must have 2 years of experience in a high-volume restaurant as a Sommelier Assistant, Sommelier, or Server
• Must be able to work well in a team dynamic
• Good food and wine knowledge with the desire to learn in detail about traditional & authentic, Middle Eastern food, wine, beer and spirits
• Passion to teach and learn constantly about cocktails and wine
• Dedication to hospitality and building a great guest experience
• Leadership quality and a drive to cultivate a hospitable culture in service

• Flexible schedule with weekend/holiday availability

Physical Requirements:

• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing 35 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the property. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
• Climbing steps regularly.
