Job Summary:
Anarust Inc. is seeking a talented and passionate Remote Game Designer to join our team. The Game Designer will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and documenting game mechanics, systems, and features. This role requires a strong understanding of game design principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
Game Concept and Design:
Develop and document detailed game design documents (GDDs), including core mechanics, gameplay loops, progression systems, and narrative elements.
Create and refine game concepts, ensuring alignment with the project's vision and target audience.
Design and balance game systems, including economy, combat, and progression.
Develop and iterate on level designs, encounter designs, and puzzle designs.
Create and manage game documentation, including design specifications, flowcharts, and diagrams.
Prototyping and Iteration:
Create and test prototypes to validate game mechanics and design concepts.
Gather and analyze player feedback to iterate on designs and improve gameplay.
Work closely with programmers and artists to ensure the implementation of design specifications.
Conduct playtesting sessions and provide constructive feedback.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including programmers, artists, and producers, in a remote environment.
Clearly communicate design ideas and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and other agile development meetings.
Maintain organized and up-to-date documentation using online collaboration tools.
Market Research and Analysis:
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor analysis, and player preferences.
Analyze game data and player feedback to identify areas for improvement.
Contribute to the development of market strategies and player acquisition plans.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure the quality and playability of the game through rigorous testing and feedback.
Identify and report bugs and design flaws.
Work with QA testers to resolve issues and improve the overall player experience.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Game Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant projects.
Deep understanding of game design principles, mechanics, and systems.
Proficiency in game design tools and software (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, proprietary engines).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Passion for video games and a deep understanding of player psychology.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be located in the United States or be a U.S. permit resident.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with specific game genres (e.g., RPG, FPS, strategy, mobile).
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Lua, Python, C#).
Experience with level design tools and software.
Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
