Job Description

STV's Transportation Team is seeking a Traffic/Transportation Engineer.

STV is seeking a passionate and driven Traffic Engineer to join our Virginia operation. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects, mentor talented staff, and collaborate with State DOTs, local governments, and private sector clients.

Responsibilities:

As a Traffic Engineer, you will:
  • Lead the design and development of construction staging , traffic signals, lighting, signing & pavement markings, and MOT design plans
  • Oversee professional design services for transportation improvement projects for VDOT, DDOT, and other agencies
  • Coordinate with design teams to ensure quality deliverables are completed on time and within budget
  • Develop specifications, cost estimates, reports, and bid packages
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, technical staff, and project managers
  • Mentor and train junior staff, fostering professional growth within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, applicable codes, and quality assurance practices
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in traffic engineering, including traffic signal design, timing, lighting design, maintenance of traffic design, etc.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Engineer-In-Training (EIT) (preferred) Registered VA Professional Engineer (PE) (desired);
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (MicroStation, AutoCAD, AutoTURN, GuideSIGN).
  • Experience with lighting design software (Agi32)
  • Familiarity with traffic analysis software (HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, CORSIM, SIDRA).
  • Familiarity with AASHTO standards and tools like Power BI, Tableau, or ESRI ArcGIS is a plus.

Compensation Range:
$78,837.35 - $105,116.46
