Job Title: Shooting Sports Director
Job Location - Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley, Warner Springs, CA

Job Summary: The Shooting Sports Director is responsible for overseeing all shooting sports activities at the camp, including archery, rifle, shotgun, pistol, and cowboy action shooting. This role requires a commitment to safety, expertise in shooting sports, and the ability to instruct and supervise campers and staff in these activities.
Season Dates:
- Directors' Week: 6/8/25-6/14/25
- Staff Development Week: 6/15/25-6/21/25
- Week 6: 7/27/25-8/2/25 (Dependent program finalization)
Wage - $516.00-584.00 per week after R&B of $45.00/week
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the shooting sports program, ensuring it is safe, educational, and enjoyable for campers of varying ages and skill levels.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of shooting ranges, including equipment and facilities.
- Train and supervise shooting sports staff, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of safety and instruction.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of the shooting sports facilities and equipment.
- Implement comprehensive safety protocols and emergency procedures for all shooting sports activities.
- Provide instruction in shooting sports merit badges and other relevant scouting achievements.
- Coordinate with the camp leadership to schedule shooting sports activities and integrate them into the overall camp program.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment use, participant progress, and any incidents or maintenance issues.
- Promote a culture of respect, sportsmanship, and ethical behavior in all shooting sports activities.
- Support overall operations of Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley and the Scouting America, Orange County Council.
- Submit an end of summer report

- This job requires the use of hands to handle, control or feel objects or tools.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move moderate to heavy objects, which requires frequent and proper bending.
- The employee must frequently be on their feet walking and hiking for distances up to 4 miles at a time.
- Employees must be able to lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted.
- This position requires the employee to work outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions as well as dust, pollen, plant life, insects, and wildlife.
Qualifications:
- Obtain NCS Shooting Sports Director certification
- Proven experience in shooting sports instruction and range management.
- Relevant certifications in shooting sports, such as from the NRA or similar organizations.
- Strong understanding of Scouting America shooting sports guidelines and safety standards.
- Available to work all summer
- Ability to live on site during the summer season working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as program scheduling requires.
- Have or be willing to obtain membership in Scouting America
- Have or be willing to obtain Live Scan background check.
- All camp staff must have a completed annual physical done by a medical provider prior to the start of the summer camp season
- Summer camp experience preferred
