Job Title: School-Based Sign Language Interpreter | Full-Time

Location: Centralia, WA

Overview: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in Centralia, WA. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a school setting, providing interpreting and transliterating services to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing in accessing their educational environment and achieving academic success.

Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpreting and transliterating services during classroom instruction, school activities, meetings, and other educational settings as required.
• Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their peers, teachers, and other school staff members.
• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa accurately and effectively, maintaining confidentiality and neutrality.

Qualifications:

• Certification as an Educational Interpreter through the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a score of 3.5 or higher preferred.
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with Deaf culture.
• Experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings preferred.
