About Us:
Aurora Plains Academy is a dedicated residential treatment facility committed to providing support for youth facing mental health challenges, emotional difficulties, and various behavioral issues. Since our establishment in January 2007, we have been passionate about fostering a safe and nurturing environment for our residents.

Position Overview:
We are seeking compassionate, motivated, and principled Youth Development Specialists to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in helping our residents achieve their treatment goals while promoting healthy communication and coping strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents.
• Communicate effectively regarding the therapeutic needs of youth.
• Assist residents in developing healthy communication and problem-solving skills, particularly during stressful situations.
• Support residents with daily living activities and chores.
• Build and maintain appropriate relationships with youth.
• Teach and model positive behaviors while providing interventions as needed.
• Participate in required agency training.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years of age upon hire.
• High School Diploma, GED, or HSED required.
• Ability to pass a caregiver/criminal background check.
• Must be free from chemical use problems for the past two years if working with youth with substance use issues.
• Documentation required to confirm legal authorization to work in the U.S. (I-9 form upon hire).

Compensation and Benefits:

• Pay Rate: $20/hour (Weekends: $22/hour)
• Sign-On Bonus: $2,000 for full-time employees ($500 with first paycheck, $1,500 after six months of successful employment)
• Tuition Reimbursement: Up to $2,250 per semester for those working a minimum of 24 hours/week.
