Job Description

Network Core IP Engineer – Nokia & Juniper (100% Remote) TEKsystems is currently seeking a Core IP Network Engineer II or III for a 2‑year, 100% remote contract opening. Responsibilities Design, implement, and document new network implementations. Test new technologies and service architectures in lab environments. Provide engineering estimates, installation packages, and escalation support for operations teams. Lead technical training and mentorship to more junior staff. Act as technical leader for architecture and operational support of IP/MPLS core networks, carrier Ethernet, cellular data core, and video transmission services. Qualifications 7+ years of experience in core IP network engineering/design in enterprise or ISP environments. Deep knowledge of MPLS, ISIS, BGP, and routing protocols; experience with Nokia and Juniper equipment. Strong understanding of IP/MPLS core network concepts, high‑availability, redundancy, reliability, scalability, and security. Proficiency in configuring Alcatel/Nokia, Cisco, Brocade, or Juniper routers and switches; advanced routing protocol configuration. Experience with RSVP, LDP, and PIM; data‑center network design; and Ethernet transport technologies (SONET, TDM, fiber, microwave, satellite, Wi‑Fi, cellular). Project‑management skills, including managing multiple simultaneous projects with timelines and budgets. Strong troubleshooting skills; able to resolve majority of network issues that arise. Advanced analytic, strategic, interpersonal, and critical‑thinking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate with internal departments. High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Telecommunications, or related field preferred. Key Skills IP networking, BGP, MPLS, Brocade, Metasolv, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP. Router and switch configuration on Alcatel/Nokia, Cisco, Brocade, Juniper. Advanced understanding of RSVP, LDP, PIM. Data‑center network design, Ethernet, SONET, TDM, fiber, microwave, satellite, Wi‑Fi, cellular. Layer‑2 Ethernet technologies: VLANs, STP, LACP, MC‑LAG. Certifications Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS Cisco CCNA/CCNP Nokia NRS I/NRS II Brocade BCNE/BCNP Pay $50.00 – $60.00 per hour Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
