GiaCare is accepting applications for experienced, civilian Medical Laboratory Technicians in support of Carl R. Darnell Army Medical Center located in Fort Cavazos (near Killeen, Texas).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree: Certificate.
• Education: Graduate from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT).
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS): Certification/registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT or state credentialing agency, OR prior training and work experience as a military laboratory technician.
• Experience: 1 year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician post graduation is required.

Job Duties:

• Process written and electronic requisitions from health care providers for routine and special laboratory tests.
• Review test results for acceptability and certify reports in the laboratory information system.
• Bring to the attention of the section supervisor, pathologist, or general laboratory supervisor any grossly abnormal test result, unusual instrument trouble, or other problem.
• Participate in the prescribed proficiency testing program.
• Train new staff and apprenticeship students in the performance of laboratory testing.
• Notice pertinent morphology/staining details of specimens under microscopic examination.
• Receive written requisitions from health care providers for routine and special laboratory tests.

Schedule:

• 40 work hours a week consisting of five (5) eight (8)-hour or four (4) ten (10)-hour

  work shifts scheduled Monday thru Sunday between the hours of 07:30 a.m. to 07:30 a.m.

• 1-hour lunch
