Job Title: Medical Lab Technologist
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Ashland, WI (may have Hayward, WI openings as well)
Sign On Bonus: $5,000 for 2 yr commitment, $10,000 for 3 yr commitment; $15,000 for 4 yr commitment
Relocation Assistance: up to $5,000
Job description:
1. The MLT will ordinarily be assigned to regular, routine laboratory work in various divisions of the lab. Specific assignments may be
changes as necessitated by varying workloads.
2. Performs assigned work promptly and accurately. She/he will use appropriate quality control and make sure QC criteria are met
before releasing reports.
3. Keeps work area clean and neat at all times.
4. Assists in training new lab employees, student technicians and aides by demonstration of techniques and supervision of tests.
5. Evaluates and documents performance of testing personnel according to CLIA personnel requirements.
6. Takes weekend back-up call on rotation basis or as assigned by the director.
7. Works with and understands the LIS functions necessary for smooth day-to-day operation.
8. Follows lab procedures for specimen acquisition, handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of
patient test results.
9. Adheres to the lab’s quality control policies and documents all QC activities, instrument and method calibrations and
maintenance performed.
10. Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, and must correct the
problems or immediately notify the section head, director or Medical Director.
11. Successfully completes annual competency assessments for each test method performed.
12. Assists with performance improvement activities.
13. May be designated as a section head following CLIA requirements.
14. Performs other duties as assigned by a section head, lab director, or Pathologist
Education & Experience:
1. Must be registered or eligible as an MLT, CLT (ASCP), or MLT (AMT), and/or HHS certified and qualify as general supervisors as outlined in CLIA regulations, or individuals with equivalent training, preferably with practical experience in general laboratory work.
Certification required within 1 year of hire

Typical Schedule: Multiple. 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts
Primarily evenings/nights – 1
Primarily days and evenings - 3
Call Required: No
Weekends: Yes. Rotating 1-2 weekends per month when fully staffed.
