The Role

This position is fully remote/work from home.

The Main Responsibilities

Brand reflects what the company stands for, helps build trust, and fosters loyalty by resonating with customers on a deeper level through the brand's unique personality, values, brand voice, visual identity and flawless data-driven creative execution. We're seeking a highly motivated and creatively curious Brand Concept Designer Intern to join our team. This role is ideal for a design student or recent graduate who thrives in ambiguity, loves building from scratch, and is excited by the challenge of turning bold, never-before-seen brand ideas into compelling visual proofs-of-concept. As part of our creative team, you'll work directly under the guidance of an Associate Creative Director to explore and visualize big idea brand concepts many of which have no existing references. You'll be responsible for translating strategic creative direction into early-stage design executions that help bring visionary ideas to life. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate closely with the Associate Creative Director to interpret and visualize high-level brand concepts.
  • Develop proof-of-concept designs using Adobe Creative Cloud tools primarily InDesign and Illustrator.
  • Create compelling layouts, mockups, and visual storytelling assets that communicate conceptual intent.
  • Assist in building presentation decks and visual narratives for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support motion design or video editing tasks (if applicable) to enhance concept storytelling.
  • Adhere to our brand and design standards in practice, and maintain company-wide consistency.
  • Stay curious and proactive in exploring new design approaches, styles, and techniques.
What We Look For in a Candidate

Program eligibility is contingent on the candidate's commitment of the entire 10-week program. No exceptions will be made.

Required Qualification

Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship. Graduating August 2026 May 2028. Preferred fields include but not limited to: Graphic Design, Visual Communication or related field. Intern must be able to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (June 1 August 6, 2026).

Proficiency and Understanding of

Strong proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. Familiarity with Photoshop and After Effects or Premiere Pro is a plus. Familiarity with generative AI tools (Firefly, GenStudio) and business AI (MS Copilot). Ability to take abstract creative direction and turn it into tangible visual outputs. Comfortable working with minimal reference material and building from a blank slate. Strong communication skills and openness to feedback and iteration. Ability to follow direction, multi-task, work on several priorities while meeting deadlines. A portfolio that demonstrates conceptual thinking and design execution (student work is welcome).

Work Setting

Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours per week during the 10-week program (June August). Intern must have reliable transportation to/from work location (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations). US Citizenship required.

Compensation

Internship compensation ranges depend on each individual's level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role. Hourly Based Pay Range: Min: $26/hour Max: $38/hour.
