Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy equipment. Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, brake repairs, and fluid checks. Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA and port regulations. Maintain accurate service and repair records. Operate diagnostic tools and repair equipment. Collaborate with operators and supervisors to identify and resolve mechanical issues promptly. Assist in emergency breakdown repairs to minimize equipment downtime. Keep work areas clean and organized while following proper safety procedures. Physical requirements and working conditions: work is 100% outdoors; exposed to weather conditions; capable of walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders up to 100 ft, fast physical reactions; work in noisy environment; flexible schedule including extended hours, holidays, weekends. Qualifications Minimum of 2‑3 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in a port, construction, or industrial setting. High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in diesel or heavy equipment mechanics preferred. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Background in preventive maintenance including oil, lube, brakes, hoses, hydraulics. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Must have a valid driver’s license. Ability to obtain a TWIC card (for more information, visit the TSA website on TWIC requirements). Compensation and Benefits Scheduling: Monday‑Friday, day shift with nights and weekends as needed.
