Job Title: Grants Manager FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Austin, Texas

Job Purpose : The Grants Manager is responsible for securing grant and foundation funding for the needs and strategic priorities of the council in support of the organization’s mission. Strategic direction and supervision will be provided by the Chief Development Officer. The Grants Manager will work with the membership, program, property, and development teams to identify funding priorities, research available funding opportunities, and pursue those opportunities via grant proposals. When a grant is funded, the Grants Manager will be responsible for tracking grant activity, reporting progress to the donor and nurturing the donor relationship. The Grants Manager will serve as a representative of Girl Scouts of Central Texas, under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, to work with staff, volunteers, and donors.

Essential Functions

  • Research, write, and report on all public, private, and United Way grants for GSCTX grant-funded programs
  • Performs prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants.
  • Update and maintain a grants and reporting calendar with clearly defined reporting requirements for the following teams: Programs, Membership, MarComm, and Finance
  • Identify budget goals for foundation, public foundations, government, and United Way support and provide a monthly forecast compared to budget
  • Create a foundation pipeline to support the achievement of revenue targets and year over year growth
  • Ensure grant compliance through a comprehensive grants management system to include collaborating with staff regarding program outcomes, budgets, and timelines
  • Manage and maintain electronic and hard-copy of all applicable grant paperwork including a copy of the grant proposal, award letter, contract, and reporting requirements in appropriate software (GrantHub and Asana) to accurately reflect status of grants applied for and grants received
  • Create professional, relevant, comprehensive grant/corporate funder reports highlighting program effectiveness, based on information from multiple sources and submit them in a timely manner
  • Update GSCTX leadership staff on status of grants pending and in preparation at monthly grants meeting.
  • Serve as primary contact for technical questions regarding grants from staff and grantors
  • Process grant approvals for payment and track payment information from Finance
  • Manage data connections and transfers between Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, and other Girl Scouts of Central Texas (GSCTX) systems.
  • Compile data for press releases, articles, and website regarding grant awards in coordination with MarComm
  • Maintain United Way supporting documentation which includes region-specific girl and adult membership numbers and human-interest stories for use in funding requests and reporting
  • Attend and participate in departmental and staff meetings
  • Support donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities with events; individuals, foundations, and corporate fundraising; online and direct mail outreach.
  • Support the the month-end process to ensure the smooth transfer of revenue data from GSCTX Finance to the donor database administrator.
  • Perform monthly and year-to-date reconciliation and donor acknowledgements between Raiser’s Edge and GSCTX Finance data.
  • Support the end-of-year audit process with GSCTX Finance.
  • Work with Customer Care team to support Salesforce case management for the Fund Development department.
  • Administer and process troop sponsorship and other related forms.
  • Represent Girl Scouts of Central Texas in the community in a professional and personable manner

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fund development and/or as grant administrator.
  • Experience with GrantHub, Salesforce and (Raiser’s Edge preferred)
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills, work independently, prioritize projects accordingly with time-sensitive deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple projects.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to edit work for spelling and grammar, present numerical data effectively, and able to read and interpret written information.
  • Exceptional oral communication skills with the ability to speak clearly in positive or negative situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills while achieving results in partnership with others with the desire and ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office 365, databases, email, internet applications, and internet research.
  • Occasional weekends and/or evenings may be required.
  • .Continuous requirement for professional demeanor and appropriate office attire.
  • A criminal background check is required.
  • Continuous work as a team member and ability to work independently with some supervision.

Education

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; or equivalent education in related field

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending and twisting upper body.
  • Capable of lifting up to 30lbs.
  • Capable of viewing computer monitor for long periods.

Environmental Demands

  • Continuous indoor activity and exposure to florescent light.
  • Frequent exposure to computer, video, and other copier emissions.
  • Some outdoor activities and exposure to weather.
