About this Position

Under the supervision of the Marketing and Special Events Coordinator, the Farmer's Market Seasonal Staff position is a seasonal job responsible for assisting with the operations and events of the Farmer's Market. They will assist the Farmer's Market/Recreation Assistant and interact with vendors and customers. They may potentially interact with city officials and local businesses/organizations.

The Farmer's Market runs throughout the year with varied hours depending on the season. Hours are approximately as follows, with some weekday hours as needed:

* 6:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays from approximately late April to late October

* 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesdays from the first of June until the end of September

* 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays from the first of November through the end of March

Responsibilities

* Assist with general operations tasks including setting up and tearing down

* Set up and take down signs, barricades, tables, chairs, and other related market components for daily markets and special events

* Dump 50-gallon trash barrels

* Clean the Festival Market area by picking up trash and landscaping

* Work with volunteers or other seasonal workers

* Exercise judgement, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with the public, other agencies, vendors, and other City department personnel

Qualifications

* At least sixteen (16) years of age

* Hold or be able to obtain certifications in Adult CPR/AED and Standard First Aid

* Experience related to special event planning & organizing events (preferred)

* Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier

Necessary Skills

* Skill utilizing Microsoft Word (preferred to also have Excel experience)

* Ability to undertake responsibilities with some initiative and judgement

* Ability to accurately organize and record information

* Ability to deal appropriately with situations of a sensitive nature requiring a tactful and courteous response and knowing when to direct to a situation to the Farmers Market/Recreation Assistant

* Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position

* Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug test
