Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Energy Supply Chain Researcher to work in our Dynamic & Spatial Systems Analysis Group, Decision Science Department reporting to the group lead. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located at our REC facility in Idaho Falls, Idaho with every other Friday off. Remote or Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position. Our department is comprised of two technical groups: Dynamic and Spatial System Analysis Group and Economic & Operational Analysis Group. Responsibilities Include:
- Apply principles, theories, and concepts to develop technical solutions to mobile, embedded, desktop, web-based and hosted capabilities in the support of programmatic goals.
- Apply software engineering principles, theories and concepts to processes and information display and visualization.
- Use modeling and simulation to address complex problems across multiple different fields. These fields may include nuclear, chemistry, digital twins, critical infrastructure, energy delivery, and energy security applications.
- Analyze, test, modify, document, and maintain models or simulation-based systems related to scientific domains.
- Implement assigned computational analysis/modeling tasks.
- Make preliminary selections and adaptations of technical alternatives.
- Develop and review designs, requirement definitions, operations, documentation, and testing processes.
- Improve, program, and develop software using appropriate technologies for the application (which may include C/C++/C#, Python, Java) Continuously enhance your skills with cutting-edge technology.
- Provide consultation services to our teams in applicable technologies, requirement definitions, operations, and testing.
- Deliver high-quality product features exceeding client expectations.
- May mentor junior level staff and lead groups.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements: - Level 1: Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline of STEM from an accredited institution.
- Simulation and modeling experience such as agent-based (Anylogic), system dynamics, (Stella, Vensim) process modeling (Aspen), optimization for operations research.
- Level 2: Advanced degree ( PhD preferred) and 1+ years industry experience.
Preferred qualifications: - Simulating and modeling experience with knowledge of Techno-economic analysis and life cycle assessment.
Job Information: - The pay range for this position is: Level 1 ($63,528 - $$130,284) / Level 2 ($75,804 - $155,496). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
