We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer for a W2-only, Contract-to-Hire role based in McLean, VA . The ideal candidate will be experienced in building scalable data solutions, working with cloud technologies, and supporting analytics teams. Previous experience with large enterprise environments-especially Capital One (preferred, not mandatory)-is a strong plus.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
Work extensively with Python , Spark/PySpark , and AWS for data processing and transformation.
Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries , particularly against Snowflake tables.
Diagnose, debug, and resolve data-related performance issues or pipeline failures.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders.
Contribute to design and architecture discussions for next-generation data systems.
Optional but valuable: work with Golang to enhance data engineering frameworks and tooling.
Strong proficiency in Python and Spark/PySpark .
Hands-on cloud experience, preferably AWS (S3, Lambda, EMR, Glue, etc.).
Solid understanding of Snowflake and ability to write complex SQL queries.
Experience troubleshooting production data pipelines and resolving performance issues.
Familiarity with Golang is highly preferred.
Experience in enterprise environments; prior Capital One experience preferred (not mandatory).
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
