Responsibilities:

As a member of the Retail Banking Team, the CRA Lending Team Leader (CLTL) works with the team to originate mortgage and small business loans to meet individual and department production goals. The CLTL is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong professional ties, specifically to business generators in low to moderate income (LMI) and majority minority census tracts, in order to develop new mortgage business.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the Bank meets the residential real estate credit needs specific to the CLTLs assigned geography, specifically in LMI and majority minority census tracts.
  • Solicits mortgage and small business loan applications in LMI and majority minority census tracts that meet the criteria of current product offering. Informs customers of the institutions loan programs, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements applicable to mortgage loan applicants.
  • Engages affordable housing agencies to mine grant and other special programs to assist potential customers, primarily in majority minority and LMI census tracts, to the path of home ownership.
  • Participates in Bank committee meetings dedicated to advancing home ownership to LMI and majority minority census tract borrowers.
  • Schedules appointments to fit the needs of the customer whether on company premises or at a mutually convenient location.
  • May interview applicants to collect and analyze pertinent information regarding income, assets, debts and credit data. Determines which products best meet the needs and financial circumstances of the potential borrower, and advises them regarding the features and benefits of different loan programs.
  • Works with the team to complete each loan application and all pre-processing functions in a timely manner to permit disclosures to be provided within required regulatory timeframes. Gathers and submits with each application the documentation necessary to render a loan decision utilizing independent judgement to make lending decisions.
  • Cross-sells company products and services by referring customers to the appropriate individual or department, to include: deposit accounts, trust services, business banking, consumer lending, insurance and personal financial services, and any other product or service offered by the company to promote a complete banking relationship.
  • Develops new loan business by continuously marketing to former satisfied customers, real estate agents, home builders, attorneys, accountants, financial planners and other potential referral sources. Represents the bank in local business and community organizations and events to develop additional business. Develop and maintain partnerships with local not-for profit organizations and government agencies focused on homeownership assistance. May present seminars to general public and real estate community for community outreach and to promote additional business.
  • Develops and maintains current competitive market information. Keeps informed of trends and developments in the local market, as well as changing rules and regulations pertaining to the mortgage industry.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and training to other loan officers regarding community development lending opportunities.
  • Ensures exceptional customer service, both internal and external by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics and complying with all Federal and State compliance policies.
  • Complies with established operating policies and procedures in order to maintain adequate controls and to support the Banks adherence to outside regulatory requirements.
  • Completes annual training requirements pertaining to Federal and State laws/regulations on or before due dates. Attends in-house training pertaining to sales, service, and technology throughout the year.

Qualifications:

Education, Training and Requirements:

  • An Associates degree or equivalent preferred
  • Specialized Banking and lending education and training
  • Sales training
  • All applicants must be 18 years of age or older

Other:

  • This position requires National Mortgage Licensing System ("NMLS") registration under the terms of The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (The SAFE Act).

Skills:

Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; PC knowledge, proficient interpersonal relations and communicative, and sales skills; a working knowledge of Bank operating policies and procedures which impact consumer services; a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all the Banks mortgage/home equity products and services.

Experience:

Seven (7) to Ten (10) years of experience in banking, including Five (5) to Seven (7) years of lending experience normally required; previous supervisory experience preferred.

USD $64,000.00/Yr.

Max:
USD $108,804.00/Yr.
