Job Description

New Edge Associates is collaborating with a reputable banking partner that is currently hiring a detail-oriented Controller in Miami, FL.

The Controller will oversee and manage all financial activities related to its operations. This role includes full responsibility for accounting, budgeting, regulatory reporting, internal controls, and financial planning. The ideal candidate will have strong banking or financial services experience, deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, and the ability to balance strategic initiatives with daily accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of accounting and financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning processes
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. banking regulations (e.g., FRB, FATCA)
  • Coordinate internal and external audits; manage relationships with auditors and regulators
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures
  • Deliver data-driven financial analysis to support executive decision-making
  • Supervise and mentor a small finance and accounting team
  • Participate directly in daily accounting and financial tasks when needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred)
  • 7+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with a strong preference for U.S. banking or financial services background
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (both written and spoken)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a hands-on, detail-oriented environment
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and banking operations
  • High standards of accuracy, ethics, and confidentiality
