ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Nazareth Prep High School is seeking a dynamic and culturally responsive Civics and Psychology Teacher to lead high school-level courses that explore historical, psychological, sociological, and cultural perspectives impacting individuals and communities. These courses are intentionally designed to support students development of a God centered worldview, academic growth and personal development while equipping them with the critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills necessary for success in college, careers, and life.
The Civics and Psychology curriculum at Nazareth Prep plays a vital role in preparing students to navigate the social, cultural, and institutional dynamics they will face in higher education and the workplace. Students will examine key theoretical models, the process of identity development, and the importance of cultural resilience in shaping family relationships. Special focus will be given to understanding how systemic factors impact family well-being. The curriculum combines critical analysis of scholarly literature, real-world case studies, and empirical research. Major topics include family structures and functions, intergenerational connections, psychological resilience, mental health, socioeconomic impact, and the supportive roles of faith and community in fostering family life.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction across civics and psychology disciplines, focusing on social responsibility and Christian virtue and worldview development.
  • Maintain high academic and behavioral standards for students while managing the classroom effectively and efficiently.

  • Use diverse instructional strategies to address all learners needs and foster the development of higher-order thinking and skills.
  • Incorporate opportunities for students to develop transferable workplace skills such as presenting ideas clearly, listening actively, engaging in constructive debate, and leading group discussions.
  • Assess students understanding through meaningful formative and summative assessments, such as reflective writing, presentations, and project-based tasks.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to build interdisciplinary learning experiences that reinforce key college and career readiness skills.
  • Offer meaningful, constructive feedback and keep clear communication with students, families, and school leadership about academic and personal progress
  • Engage actively in school-wide programming, professional development, and student support initiatives.

  • Deep understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy and social justice frameworks preferred.
  • Strong classroom management, instructional design, and student engagement strategies.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, especially in urban or mission-aligned schools.
  • A commitment to high academic and moral expectations and fostering a learning environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
